Back in June, J and I had two fun, new additions to the Reeder household. With the first one, we decided that J's gas guzzling truck and my V6 engine weren't the most efficient ways of commuting to and from Colorado/ Utah. Plus neither of them were 4WD, which let's face it- whether you're in Colorado or Utah 4WD is just necessary. Especially since it snows more than half the year in both states.- We saved up and began our homework to find the perfect car on a great deal!
Meanwhile, my sweet Grandparents from Colorado had called me up the month before, on my birthday, and said they had a big birthday gift for me........ a PUPPY!!!!!! And not just ANY puppy a DARLING little Dachshund/ Yorkie mix named Abby. She wouldn't be weened for a couple more weeks and after that she may still need up to a month before the Vet would feel comfortable in her traveling to get to me. She was the only survivor out of her litter of 6, so the Vet wanted to be extra sure she was good to go! J and I were both SO excited to welcome her.
One Friday night I got a call from my aunt and Grandma saying the puppy had just been to the vet and everything about her was looking GREAT! She could come to us any time!
We planned out for us to meet the very next day! So, I decided to be sneaky and NOT tell J she was coming to us early! He had to work that day anyway, so keeping it a secret should be no problem! I drove to Provo while Jwas at work and met my Grandma and aunt and our goofy little mutt! It was totally love at first sight!
As I was driving home with my brand new puppy, J called me to let me know that he had found the PERFECT car! It was everything I had wanted, a Subaru Forrester with a moon roof, heated seats, low miles, clean title etc, etc. The only problem was that it was all the way down in Provo :) (note: he still does not know I had just left Provo to pick up the puppy)
I decided to still keep it a secret and made it home with few minutes to spare before J would get home from work. Abby made herself right at home! When J got home, Abby got nervous at the sound of an unfamiliar dude walking in and ran under my legs. I was wearing a long maxi skirt so she was completely concealed! J walked in and right away was telling me we needed to rush down to Provo ASAP to test drive that car before the dealership closed. Right in the middle of his next sentence, Abby pops out from under my legs giving J the surprise of his life! :) It was love at first sight for them too! Two trips to Provo in one day and I landed myself a new car and a puppy! Definitely a day for the books! :)
Another MINOR update:
Our MOVE to RYE!!!
Since we dated, J and I have always tossed the idea of moving back to the little area I grew up. If you've ever been there you know exactly why we love it and feel drawn to the life style it offers. We loved a lot of things about where we were in Utah (don't get me wrong!) But every time we came back to visit Rye, we never wanted to leave! :) We always wanted to give the "rye life" a try but there was always something keeping us where we were. Most the time it was just ourselves. Didn't want to leave friends and family. School. Jobs. You name it. But when J finished school and was at a job he hated, we figured WHY NOT?!? We thought about it a lot and prayed about it even more and wah-lah! The Reeder's are in Rye!
We are excited to feel it out and see if this is really where we want to settle down and start our family! J and I both have a few job prospects and are waiting until the end of the week to make our decisions!
